HOW and WHY we WORSHIP as we do

Singing and congregational participation, music, prayer and praise are vital to us. Teaching the Bible is emphasized at every service. Our worship is based on the pattern of the Word of God.

At Beacon of Hope, the style of worship is varied, just as our congregation is made up of many people with many tastes. Some call us charismatic and some pentecostal. Others refer to us as a full gospel church. It doesn't matter to us how you describe us as long as you know that our services are based only on the Word of God.

Our worship and praise to the Lord takes many forms as we are influenced by the Holy Spirit. Some people are not used to seeing a full expression of worship in church services. The Bible gives examples of the different methods of worship:

We sing with all our hearts because in the Bible it is written . . . .

“I'm thanking you, God, from a full heart, I'm writing the book on your wonders.  I'm whistling, laughing, and jumping for joy;   I'm singing your song, High God.” Psalm 9:1-2.

“Hallelujah! I give thanks to God with everything I've got---Wherever good people gather, and in the congregation. ” Psalm 111:1.

“Shout your praises to God, everybody!    Let loose and sing! Strike up the band! ” Psalm 98:4.

..................................................................................................................................

We play musical instruments because in the Bible it is written . . . .

“David and the whole company of Israel were in the parade, singing at the top of their lungs and playing mandolins, harps, tambourines, castanets, and cymbals. ” 2 Samuel 6:5.

..................................................................................................................................

We clap our hands and give worship unto God because in the Bible it is written . . . .

“Applause, everyone. Bravo, bravissimo! Shout God-songs at the top of your lungs! ” Psalm 47:1.

..................................................................................................................................

We pray together out loud because in the Bible it is written . . . .

“My mouth's full of great praise for God,  I'm singing his hallelujahs surrounded by crowds, ” Psalm 109:30 “Hearing the report, they lifted their voices in a wonderful harmony in prayer:” Acts 4:24.

..................................................................................................................................

We lift our hands in praise because in the Bible it is written . . . .

“Lift your praising hands to the Holy Place, and bless God.” Psalm 134:2.

..................................................................................................................................

We dance in the Spirit because in the Bible it is written . . . .

“ Praise him with castanets and dance,” Psalm 150:4.

..................................................................................................................................

We anoint with oil for divine healing because in the Bible it is written . . . .

“Are you sick? Call the church leaders together to pray and anoint you with oil in the name of the Master. ” James 5:14.

..................................................................................................................................

We allow the operation of the Spiritual gifts to edify the Church, because in the Bible it is written . . .

“Since you're so eager to participate in what God is doing, why don't you concentrate on doing what helps everyone in the church?”
1 Corinthians 14:12.

Psalm 150

Hallelujah!
Praise God in His holy house of worship,
      praise Him under the open skies;
   Praise Him for his acts of power,
      praise Him for his magnificent greatness;
   Praise with a blast on the trumpet,
      praise by strumming soft strings;
   Praise Him with castanets and dance,
      praise Him with banjo and flute;
   Praise him with cymbals and a big bass drum,
      praise Him with fiddles and mandolin.
   Let every living, breathing creature praise God!
      Hallelujah!
